Oh Bhama Ayyo Rama Movie Review and Rating: 2.25/5
Oh Bhama Ayyo Rama by Ram Godhala, attempts to smuggle an old worn out love story as a romantic entertainer but turns out to be an extremely tiresome watch and hardly has any chance to cling on to. Featuring a narration with Suhas and a newcomer Malavika Manoj, the movie wastes a supposedly touching story with cheesy or awkward narration, random tonal changes, and superficial character development.
The movie is a story about Ram (Suhas), a young movie hater haunted by his past with the support of his chirpy idealistic girlfriend Satyabhama (Malavika). It claims to be a story about emotional catharsis and striving, but delivers a mess of romance, vaudeville humor, melodrama and meaningless celebrity appearances.
What Works
- Malavika Manoj in her debut seems to have some screen presence despite being trapped in a baldly written role.
-
There are a couple of comic scenes scattered in-between to get minor relief.
What Fails
-
The screenplay is scattershot, the tonal shifts seem to take place every other scene, and the second half has an ever-swelling bulge to it that has no end in sight
-
There is no romance sizzle and the comedic stuff usually comes little to no shock and the emotional connections are not done well., the comedy often falls flat, and the emotional beats are poorly handled.
-
Suhas feels miscast, and his character’s constant whining gets grating fast.
-
Songs feel forced, with weak placement and zero memorability.
-
Technical aspects — from the editing to the visuals — are strictly functional, with no flair or standout moments.
Cameos from directors like Maruthi and Harish Shankar add little beyond a desperate attempt to pad the runtime. Even veterans like Ali, Anita Hassanandani, and Babloo Prithiveeraj are underused and forgettable.
Verdict
Oh Bhama Ayyo Rama is a mess, frustrating and exhausting, which is neither funny nor interesting. It is the type of the film that will stretch your patience to the limits and leave no impression at all including the guilty pleasure level. Watch something else man.
