Combining the legendary DC superhero and intense and colorful history of ancient Mexico, the animated feature presents the readers with a new and rewarding turn to Gotham guardian.
What’s the Story?
The novel is set during the peak of Aztec Empire and is told through the story of a young Aztec boy Yohualli Coatl whose idyllic life is ruined when his father is killed by Spanish conquistadors. With the intent of warning the king Moctezuma and a high priest Yoka of the imminent danger, Yohualli escapes to Tenochtitlanz. There he starts to train in a sacred temple of bat god Tzinacan and he can enhance his abilities and powerful weapons to counter Spanish invaders, and to take the revenge of his father death.
When Yohualli becomes a terrifying warrior, he confronts such powerful figures as the fatal Jaguar Woman and the enigmatic Forest Ivy who contribute to better Batman worlds.
A Cultural and Visual Masterpiece
The gist of it is not that it is a film about Batman but this is a twist, it is a story about a plunge into the Mesoamerican culture. Directed by Chris McKay, produced by Warner Bros. Animation, a Quebec company, called Anima, and Chatrone, the film brings to life, the beauty, strength, and mythology of ancient Mexico like never before, and it is based on DC characters.
